Hiking

From a gentle stroll along the river Lima to serious mountain climbing the choice is yours. Walking Maps are readily available. Organised walks or a visit to Orrido di Botri for four hours walking through Tuscany's Grand Canyon can be arranged upon request. There is even a walking map on the wall in the local piazza taking you around the immediate area.Around Bagni di Lucca there are many National Parks including:

Cycling

Rent a cycle in Lucca and cycle arond the medieval wall that surrounds the city - great fun for all the family. Bagni di Lucca and the surrounding hills are extremely popular with cyclists and many organised trials travel through the village. Mountain biking is also a popular way of exploring the hill tracks surrounding the village. You can take the cable car from Abetone during the summer and cycle back down taking in the fantastic mountain scenery.

Motor Biking

The roads between the coast and Abetone are ideal for motor bikers and you often see the locals admiring the motorcycles, from Harley Davidsons, BSAs and Triumphs to Vespas that call in the local square on their journey. The hills and mountain roads in this area make the landscape ideal for off road motor biking and there is an off road club near to Barga (10km) where you can rent and have organised rides.Please note that we have a large garage here at the Villa where you can secure your own motorcycle or bicycle during your stay. So if motor biking is your favoured mode of transport we can accommodate your bike.

Horse Riding

There are a number of stables close by (3km) where you can go riding and cater for all levels of experience (even me). We can also arrange local organised pony trekking with experienced guides.

Swimming

The local outdoor pools in the village are normally open from the end of May to the end of September. There is a large outdoor swimming pool a smaller outdoor children’s pool and a diving pool and even a thermal spa outdoor shower. Here you can relax by the pool soaking up the sun and the beautiful views across the valley to the mountains beyond. The pool has a cafe bar where you can get drinks and meals. Pool attendants are on duty all day and are always close at hand. Bathing caps are required in the pool and these are obtained at the reception area.

There are outlet stores at Lucca, Prada and Florence where you can buy famous Italian designer items including Armani, Gucci, Ferragamo, Ungaro, Valentino, Y.S. Laurent, plus Dolce and Gabbana. A trip to the Mall near Florence can be arranged for you in advance. There are also many designer shops inside the walls of Lucca ranging from jewellery, shirts, shoes clothing and artwork.
